Typical Boiler Issues

You could run into some common issues with hot water and steam boilers. While you might be able to address some of these problems on your own, for more complicated heat repairs or a significant boiler malfunction in Lake Tahoe, you might need to hire a pro contractor like WCH Plumbing to take care of the issue for you.

Inaccurate Thermostat

If your boiler's thermostat has seemed to lose its preciseness, you might want to check if the setting is correct and if it is turned on. If both things are in place, you might need to replace the thermostat. The installers at WCH Plumbing Company can take care of it for you.

Zero Heat

Worn-out components, thermostat issues, or insufficient water levels may be at blame. You might want to give us a call so our installers can come over to your Lake Tahoe home and take a look to determine the root cause of the issue.

Pouring or Leaking

Any signs of leakage from the boiler can point to a serious issue that needs your immediate attention. A plumbing contractor in Lake Tahoe can examine the situation to identify if the dripping is due to a malfunctioning internal component, corrosion, or a worn-out seal.

Sounds of Banging, Whistling, or Gurgling

These noises can be caused by air in the system, low water pressure, or a failing component. The expert boiler installers in our Lake Tahoe-based plumbing company can identify the root cause within a few minutes.

A Booming or Kettling Sound

Lime and sludge buildup in the heat exchanger is causing limited water flow. As a result, the water becomes too hot and begins to boil. A plumbing contractor is required to verify the actual reason for the noise.

The Pilot Light has Blown

Due to a faulty thermocouple, a draft, or an accumulation of deposits, the pilot light can stop working. Another option would be to stop using natural gas. Our installers will be better capable of guiding you with the right choice once you call our company so we can check your boiler.

Insufficient Pressure

A pressure valve could need to be repaired, or there could be a slow leak. Freshly bled radiators are another potential culprit for insufficient pressure.

Iced Condensation Pipe

The condensation pipe is often susceptible to freezing when the temperature drops since the pipe are positioned outside. You can solve this issue on your own by simply pouring some warm water on it to let the ice melt.

The Radiators are not Heating Up.

Air or sludge accumulation in the system can lead to the radiators failing to heat up. If you experience this issue, wait no further to give an expert professional like WCH Plumbing Company a call so our installers can come and take a look.

Boiler Repeatedly Shuts Itself Off

Numerous problems, including insufficient water pressure, thermostat problems, closed valves creating low water flow, and improper air or pump circulation of the water, could be to blame.

All of these problems call for the attention of an expert plumbing company or contractor. While we realize there are many boiler installation and replacement service providers in Lake Tahoe, we offer the best service at the most reasonable prices, which will be depicted in the estimate you obtain from us!

Signs You Need a Boiler Installation and Replacement

Sure, repairing your current boiler sounds much cheaper, but will it be worth it in the long run? Our expert installers have curated a list of signs that indicate you should go for a boiler installation and replacement instead of a costly repair:

  • Higher energy bills.
  • Constant leakage and dripping.
  • Frequent need for repairs.
  • Strange noises from the unit.
  • Your boiler is years old.

This is the first time I've used this company but I must say I was very impressed with their communication, organization, follow through, price and professionalism. They did everything we agreed to for a very reasonable price I would use them again in fact I got a bid from them to do something else for me already. Both gentlemen were very courteous and professional. I was able to get my water heater installed the same day.

About Lake Tahoe

Large and full of pure water, Lake Tahoe is located in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. It is located west of Carson City at a height of 6,225 feet and spans the state boundary between Nevada and California (1,897 m). Lake Tahoe is the second-largest lake in North America by volume, behind only the five Great Lakes. Oregon's Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the US, although this lake is a close second (1,949 ft or 594 m).

The lake's current size and shape are the product of its development two million years ago and subsequent ice periods in the Lake Tahoe Basin. This region is well-known for its pure water and magnificent mountain landscape. Tahoe is a common alternative name for Lake Tahoe. More than 75 percent of the land that flows into the lake is owned by the U.S. Forest Service.

Lake Tahoe is a renowned tourist spot that attracts visitors both from California and Nevada. There are chances for winter sports at Lake Tahoe, outdoor recreation in the summer, and seasonal scenery. Ski resorts increase the Lake Tahoe region's tourism and earnings. The lakeside casino resorts in Nevada are easy to reach via highways throughout the year.

After Crater Lake in Oregon (1,949 feet), Lake Tahoe is the second-deepest lake in the United States (594 m). Tahoe has the sixteenth-lowest depth and the fifth-highest average depth among lakes. In terms of size, it is 22 by 12, has 116 miles of shoreline, and encompasses 191 square miles (490 km2). The convex surface of the lake is a result of the spherical shape of the Earth. Each of the Lake Tahoe´s two opposite shorelines stretches to depths of one hundred feet (30 metres) and three hundred twenty feet (98 metres), respectively, below the horizon at lake level. When the average temperature is much higher than the temperature of the Lake Tahoe, looming clouds might develop, which can result in a shift in visibility. Tessie of Lake Tahoe may be a trickster figure.

Vertical faulting was responsible for the formation of Lake Tahoe's basin. The Carson Range is located to the east of the peak of the Sierra Nevada Range. The Lake Tahoe Basin was formed by the tilting and down dropping of blocks. The faulting in the eastern Great Basin is notorious. The Sierra Nevada-Great Valley Block and North America experience 0.47 in (12 mm) of dextral shear each year, and Lake Tahoe is the youngest extensional basin of Walker Lane.

The basin of Lake Tahoe is formed by three major faults: the Stateline/North Tahoe Fault, which forms Stateline, Nevada; the Incline Village Fault, which follows the Stateline/North Tahoe Fault offshore and into Uphill Village; and the West Tahoe Fault, which runs between Meyers and Tahoe City and is part of the Sierra Nevada Fault. West Tahoe Fault is the basin's most active and dangerous fault. A study at Fallen Leaf Lake, which is located to the south of Lake Tahoe, used seabed mapping to identify and date earthquake remnants on West Tahoe to between 4,100 and 4,500 years ago. Submarine landslides in Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake were triggered by earthquakes on the West Tahoe fault, and the timing of these episodes is compatible with a recurrence interval of 3,000 to 4,000 years.

The dry-summer continental climate of Lake Tahoe is characterised by warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. The average annual precipitation differs significantly between the watersheds on the west side (about 55 inches/1440 mm) and the lake on the east side (roughly 26 inches/660 mm).

At higher elevations, the basin of Lake Tahoe contains wet meadows, riparian ecosystems, dry meadows, brush fields (with Arctostaphylos and Ceanothus), and rock outcrops. Although Ceanothus can fix nitrogen, mountain alder (Alnus tenuifolia) fixes substantially more and contributes to nitrate-N levels in some minor streams. The rare Lake Tahoe yellowcress (Rorippa subumbellata) grows only between low- and high-water marks on Lake Tahoe's beaches and rock outcrops. Although Ceanothus can fix nitrogen, mountain alder (Alnus tenuifolia) fixes substantially more and contributes to nitrate-N levels in some minor streams.

In the first half of the 20th century, few holiday homes surrounded the Lake Tahoe. The post-World War II demographic and construction boom, followed by development of casinos in Nevada during the mid-1950s, and completion of major highway links for the 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley, led to a tremendous surge in basin development. From 1960 to 1980, the main residential population grew from 10,000 to over 50,000 and the summer population from 10,000 to 90,000. Land-use limitations have restrained development since the 1980s.
